Get involved! Get to know your neighbourhood park, meet new people and help make Waterloo a greener community by planting a tree.

Wear closed-toe footwear and appropriate clothing for natural area conditions.  All hand tools, gloves and refreshments provided by the City of Waterloo.  Youth under 18 years must be supervised by an adult parent or guardian.

    • Conservation Halton Courtcliffe Park Tree Planting

      September 9

      Join Conservation Halton ecosystem restoration staff to improve the health of Mountsberg Creek. At this community volunteer workday we will be planting native trees and shrubs near the banks of Mountsberg Creek. These trees will help to filter rain water before it enters the creek and improve water quality. They will also provide habitat and food for birds and mammals living in and around Mountsberg Creek. No previous experience required. All equipment needed provided.

    • For the Birds! Minesing Volunteer Plant – TD Tree Days

      Plant a home for​ the birds!

      Volunteers are needed to plant 500 native trees and shrubs near the bird tower in the globally significant Minesing Wetlands, on the banks of the Mad River.

      You’ll be creating habitat for the 221 species of bird that live and visit the wetlands. One day the tree you plant may be home to a gigantic Bald Eagle‘s nest, or may help keep the endangered Cerulean Warbler singing.

    • Fall Community Tree Planting

      Leave a legacy in your community by participating in Ontario’s Green Leaf Challenge. The province of Ontario aims to plant 3 million trees as part of the Canada 150 celebration. We are seeking volunteers to help plant 700 trees in Imagination Park in partnership with our friends from Forests Ontario.

      Trees, shovels, and gloves and refreshments will be provided. This event is even eligible for high school volunteer hours.

      Ajax’s community tree planting events are suitable for all ages and will take place rain or shine.
